USAID supports the Ethiopian Government Productive Safety Net Program (PSNP) in providing chronically food insecure households with enough income (cash/food) to meet their food gap and thereby protect their household assets from depletion and building community assets to contribute to addressing root causes of food insecurity. USAID is also engaged in disaster risk reduction activities through improving and enhancing early warning systems applications that forecast drought and other rainfall related risks which can negatively impact livelihood conditions.

Why Our Work Matters…
Every year, droughts, floods, hurricanes, and other natural disasters affect millions of people around the world, and millions of other people are in need of emergency food aid. USAID focuses on crisis prevention, response, recovery and transition to strengthen resilience, mitigate the impact of disasters, and save lives.
