Democracy and Governance programs in Nigeria are supporting responsive governance at state and local levels, enhancing credibility for elections, and increasing capacity for civic engagement.

USAID's Democracy and Governance program in Nigeria work with the Government of Nigeria to:

  • Support responsive governance at state and local levels;
  • Promote more transparent and credible elections;
  • Support the organizational development of political parties, and
  • Empower civil society to play an active role in democratic processes.
