USAID's Investments for Democracy and Governance in Senegal - Dollars to Results
FY 2011 $4.2 M
FY 2012 $3.3 M
FY 2013 $3.0 M
FY 2014 $3.6 M
Senegal is one of the few stable democracies in West Africa; however, weak checks and balances have historically undermined good governance. Assistance supports decentralization and development at the local level, promotes government-wide transparency and accountability, and supports electoral and political processes.
USAID'S DEMOCRACY AND GOVERNANCE PROGRAM IN SENEGAL AIMS TO:
- Strengthen democratic political culture and civil society by supporting the means through which citizens can freely organize, advocate, and communicate;
- Promote government institutions that are democratic, effective, responsive, sustainable, and accountable to citizens;
- Ensure that elections are competitive and reflect the will of an informed citizenry; and
- Advance and protect individual rights and promote societies in which the state and its citizens are accountable to laws.
Disclaimer: Dollars to Results links spending in a fiscal year to results reported for that same year.
