Agriculture remains the mainstay of Uganda's economy, accounting for more than one-third of gross domestic product, 85 percent of export earnings, and employment for over 70 percent of the population.

USAID's Economic Growth program in Uganda aims to:

  • Build a strong agricultural sector,
  • Promote trade and investment, and
  • Enhance rural infrastructure.
