As part of the Global Climate Change Initiative, USAID is assisting in the development and implementation of a national strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. Zambia is one of nine developing countries worldwide that is piloting such a program. USAID efforts in this area will field test activities in Zambia’s Eastern Province designed to combat deforestation.
